Family Fun Nights: St. Patrick’s Day at CDM - Come and join the Children’s Discovery Museum for a night filled with Lucky Leprechauns and greens things galore. Don’t forget to wear your green as you search for the leprechaun’s lost gold, make some lucky clover crafts, and play some luck of the Irish games. Cost of program includes a supper buffet which will include many green items! Cost: $10 passholder/$12 non-passholder American Passion Play Performance - The American Passion Play takes you to Palestine, 30 A.D. You'll travel with Christ, seeing the world as He saw it. You'll follow His ministry and life from the Sermon on the Mount to the Resurrection and Ascension. You'll hear His words, as vital to you now as they were to the people of his time. The American Passion Play, unlike other passion plays, dramatizes Jesus' entire ministry, rather than just the events from the Passion Week onward. His teachings on faith, love, justice and righteousness are still our best hope for solving today's complex problems. The message of his three-year ministry has a larger meaning for our daily lives than do the emotions of Passion Week alone. The play is historically accurate. The settings and costumes re-create the first century Galilee. The text is taken from the King James Version of the Bible, and the performers bring this magnificent language to life. Now in its 85th season, the American Passion Play of Bloomington, Illinois was conceived by Delmar D. Darrah to show the life and ministry of Christ as a vital, living force. Although this is the oldest continuously performed Passion Play in the United States, it is not a static drama. The production has changed to reflect modern historical knowledge of the era but has remained true to the teachings of Jesus. The actors are non-professionals with a spiritual dedication to their parts and to the American Passion Play. As performers, they share in a community of faith with the audience and give testimony to the contemporary power of Christ's teachings. The renovated Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts (formerly the Scottish Rite Temple) is the home of the American Passion Play. Hearts at Home National Conference - The Hearts at Home National Conference is March 14-15, 2008 at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. Featuring: Jill Savage, Cheri Keaggy, Ken Davis, the Momma's Boyz, great workshops, and a lot of fun, excitement, and encouragement take place at the conference. For more info, visit us online. 50th Annual Illinois Mennonite Relief Sale - Eighty percent of the net proceeds from this family fare event are channeled through Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), a relief and service agency located in Akron, Pennsylvania. MCC first began in 1920 in Russian and Ukrainian villages needing assistance. Today MCC, celebrating 87 years (1920-2007) of serving “In the Name of Christ,” has over 1,000 volunteers working in the United States and 53 other countries of the world. The mission of the Mennonite Central Committee is: 1. To seek to demonstrate God’s love by working among people suffering from poverty, conflict, oppression, and natural disaster; 2. To serve as a channel of interchange by building relationships; 3. To strive for peace, justice, and dignity of all people by sharing our experience, resources, and faith in Jesus Christ. One part of raising money for MCC is the Relief Sale Program. Annually there are approximately 35 sales held throughout America from the east coast to the west coast and about 11 in Canada. Approximate income from these 46 sales is $5,000,000 annually. Twenty percent of the Illinois Relief Sale net income is used locally by grassroots volunteers to provide food for the needy in Central Illinois. Special Olympics State Basketball Tournament - The annual Special Olympics Illinois State Basketball Tournament will take place at ISU's Horton Fieldhouse and IWU's Shirk Center on March 15-16, 2008.
