| September 21, 2007 Homeschool Program:Abraham Lincoln - 9-13 Yrs - This two hour, drop-off program is designed to stimulate a child's interest in a specific topic with age-appropriate, hands-on activities at the Children's Discovery Museum. Step into the past and discover the life and history of Abraham Lincoln. We'll investigate historical documents, create art projects and learn some U.S. history. Cost includes program, snack, and Museum exploration for one child. Program cost: $10 passholder/$13 non-passholder. Payment must accompany registration. 24-hour cancellation required for credit. Lincoln exhibit in Stevenson-Ives Library - August 23 through October 5, 2007 Lincoln exhibit in Stevenson-Ives Library. Illinois State University’s Milner Library is hosting the traveling exhibit “Forever Free: Abraham Lincoln’s Journey to Emancipation.” In conjunction will this exhibit the Museum will display Lincoln-related items in the display case outside the Library. Age: 9-13 Old House Society Hour Tour - Open house set at historic house on Franklin Park The owner of 908 N Prairie, Bloomington, an historic home on the west side of Franklin Park, known as “the castle,” Sara McClure Franklin, will open her home to the public from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21. The event is $10 per person which includes appetizers and wine. The event is sponsored by the Old House Society Foundation and proceeds go to their capital campaign. Mitch Easter Live - Concert featuring Mitch Easter, former frontman and founder of the band "Let's Active" and a producer on the first three R.E.M. recordings. Mitch has also worked as a producer/engineer with the likes of Suzanne Vega (he produced the album and played guitar on the hit song"Luka"), Wilco, Pavement, Dinosaur, Jr., Marshall Crenshaw among others. Also playing are Shalini (Mitch's wife's band featuring Don Dixon on bass who co-produced the early R.E.M. albums with Mitch), the Tom , and local "popsters" Wiplot playing their 10th Anniversary show. B/N Jaycees Septemberfest - The eighth annual Bloomington-Normal Jaycee SeptemberFest is a large international beer tasting and local band music extravaganza held at the Bloomington Sale Barn. This year the event takes place on the 21st and 22nd of September. There will be over two hundred different beers represented from around the world and around the country. Bands from around the state will be playing each night during most of the evening. This year there will also be a bags tournament on Saturday the 22nd at 5pm, as part of the SeptemberFest event. Tickets at the door are $10 for a one day entry or $15 for a two day pass. Samples taste tickets are $.50. A portion of the proceeds this year goes to the Big Brothers/ Big Sisters of Central Illinois. Come out to enjoy the music, food and beverage – all the while supporting your local community!
