Over 40 years have passed since Arlo Guthrie released his epic ballad “Alice’s Restaurant.” The song, a comic monologue about the singer’s first-hand account of ‘60s counterculture and jab at the draft board, inspired a record, which inspired a major motion picture; Guthrie’s status as an American cultural icon was secure. An active proponent of social consciousness and activism, Guthrie still delights with classic hits including “City of New Orleans,” “The Motorcycle Song” and “Coming Into Los Angeles.”
