    The youngest community college in the state, Heartland Community College is an open admission resource for affordable higher education with a focus on student success. More than 40 programs for career training and transfer preparation are offered in an attractive campus setting with multiple new facilities. Among the main facilities on the 140-acre campus is the sustainably constructed, LEED certified Workforce Development Center. In addition to more than 5,200 credit students, Heartland Community College provides a diverse selection of non-credit enrichment, recreation and professional development classes for more than 8,000 community members. The newly constructed Corn Crib houses the Normal CornBelters of the independent Frontier League and is the permanent home of the Heartland Hawks softball, baseball and men's and women's soccer teams.

    Founded in 1857, Illinois State University is the state's first public university, and is one of the Midwest's oldest institutions of higher education. It is a co-educational, residential university with an emphasis on the undergraduate program, offering more than 188 fields of undergraduate study across 34 academic departments. The Graduate School coordinates 39 master's, two specialist and nine doctoral programs. The 350-acre campus includes more than 60 major buildings with state-of-the-art technology, and Watterson Towers is one of the most unique structures, as this residence hall is the tallest building between Chicago and St. Louis. Other major facilities include a Center for the Performing Arts, a 360-acre farm, Bone Student Center and Braden Auditorium, a University Planetarium, Redbird Arena, and Hancock Stadium.     Illinois Wesleyan, founded in 1850, is a highly selective, residential liberal arts university with an enrollment of approximately 2,100. The University consists of the College of Liberal Arts, with 17 academic departments; the College of Fine Arts that includes professional Schools of Art, Music, and Theatre; and, the School of Nursing. Wesleyan faculty members are active scholars who are devoted to undergraduate teaching and engage their students in research and scholarly activity. The beautiful 80-acre campus is a mix of traditional and modern facilities. Recent additions include, the state-of-the-art Ames Library, the Center for Natural Sciences and the Shirk Center for Athletics and Recreation, regarded as one of the finest athletic facilities in the country. The newest addition, the Minor Myers Jr. Welcome Center, is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building that is home to the Office of Admissions and the Hart Career Center. The Illinois Wesleyan Titans compete in NCAA Division III and have had more than 100 studentathletes named Academic All-American's since 1970.

    Lincoln College was founded in 1865 as Lincoln University. It is the only college or university to be named after Abraham Lincoln during his lifetime. A second campus was established in the Bloomington-Normal area in 1979. Today, students enjoy small classes and apartment suite housing on a 10-acre campus bordered by the Constitution Trail and close to the popular Uptown Normal and Downtown Bloomington districts.
