A tradition since 1951, Bloomington Kiwanis holds Pancake Days, along with the Scholastic Book Fair, annually serving pancakes and sausage to over 3,000 people. Pancake Days is held at the BCPA - Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts building (lower level ballroom). Pancakes are prepared by Kiwanis members and community organizations on specially crafted griddles insuring fresh, steaming hot pancakes. Pancakes are served with sausage, coffee, orange juice and milk. This year Pancake Days are Saturday, February 15 and Sunday, February 16 from 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM. Tickets are available at the door: Adults $7.00 and Children age 5-12 $3.00 (Children under age 5 are free.) Tickets in advance are $6 for Adults and are available at the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District Office or from any Bloomington Kiwanis member. The Scholastic Book Fair hours are 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM, February 15 and 16. Proceeds from Pancake Days and the Scholastic Book Fair go toward helping local deserving children go to camp, as well as other programs benefiting local kids such as Boys & Girls Club, W.D. Boyce Boy Scouts of American, Salvation Army and Childrens Miracle Network. Each summer, since 1930, Bloomington Kiwanis sends approximately 100 8-10 year olds who have been identified as children who would benefit from a camping experience, to Camp Limberlost at East Bay Camp at Lake Bloomington. Camp Limberlost is supported by fundraisers throughout the year including Pancake Days, Mothers Day Flower Sale, Peanut Days, cheese sales, golf outings and individual donations.
Cost: $7 for adults; $3 for kids ages 5-12
