The Fracking Process & Its Effects
Brief Summary of Presentation: Presents oil/gas well construction, brief history of horizontal wells and hydraulic fracturing process, seismicity, results on contamination studies in U.S. and where shale oil/gas resources may lie in Illinois.
GUEST SPEAKER: Robert Bauer is an Engineering Geologist at the Illinois State Geological Survey, a Division of the Prairie Research Institute at the University of Illinois. He has 37 years of experience with coal mine subsidence, landslides, soil and bedrock behavior during earthquakes, and underground excavation. He is a Licensed Professional Geologist and is involved in the Illinois hydraulic fracturing legislation and rules.
