In this musical send up of the Hans Christian Anderson fairytale, "The Princess and the Pea", Queen Aggravain has ruled that none may wed until her son, Prince Dauntless does. However, she has managed to sabotage every princess that comes along. When Sir Harry and Lady Larken learn that they are going to be parents, marry or not, he goes off to the swamps and brings back Princess Winnifred. The queen is horrified by the unconventional Winnifred and immediately begins to scheme, but with some help from Harry, the King, and the court Jester, Winnifred isn't going to be quite so easy to get rid of and merry mayhem ensues. Carried on a wave of wonderful 1950s songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this spin on the familiar yarn of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for a family friendly experience in the theatre.
